Guidelines and protocols for the state of New Mexico regarding COVID-19 are still in full effect at Eastern New Mexico University.
As COVID-19 continues to be apart of everyday life, it is important to stay informed and remain healthy. On Aug. 13, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated their guidelines for masks. The CDC states that all individuals who are not vaccinated and aged 2 and older, should wear a face mask at all times in indoor places.
The CDC urges vaccinated individuals to wear face masks in high transmission areas, and to maximize protection from the Delta variant. Vaccines are available to those age 12 and older for all New Mexicans. You can register for your COVID-19 vaccine on the New Mexico Department of Health’s website, and they will contact you to schedule your appointment when the vaccine is available.
There have been over 240,000 positive cases, 4,700 COVID-19 related deaths, and a total of over 4 million tests in the state of N.M. The NMDOH encourages residents to receive testing through their provider or use other available screening and testing sites throughout the state. Testing is available to those who have COVID-19 symptoms and those without symptoms as well.
The NMDOH has been providing statewide communication for COVID-19 concerns. The NMDOH publishes press releases and updates the data dashboard daily on their website to stay up to date on current situations to help the people of N.M. stay safe. In addition, there have been two 24/7 COVID hotlines created to help those answer any questions they have regarding health-related and non-health related COVID questions.
