There are lots of buildings here at Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU). From the Golden Student Success Center (Library), where students go to study and hang out to the Administration Building, where people are able to pay off their tuition and get their paycheck. However, there is one building that I feel truly makes ENMU what it is.
The Campus Union Building (CUB) is located on the south side of the ENMU Campus. It is considered the heart of ENMU. It is near the College of Business and Eddy and Guadalupe resident halls. It is home to many different organizations that make up the CUB.
When you enter the CUB from the north side, the first thing you see is the Housing and Dining Services. They allow students to get housing around campus and also dining, which allows them to eat in the dining hall.
On the note of the dining hall, it is located on the left side of the CUB. If you have a meal plan, you can scan in and eat. The dining hall is open from 7:30 to 9 a.m. for breakfast, 11 to 2 p.m. for lunch and 5 to 7 p.m. for dinner. The dining hall serves a variety of foods for the students.
If you are not feeling the dining hall, you can stop at the WOW Cafe. They also sell food and drinks such as coffee and boba. If you continue down the hallway, you will find all the offices of Campus Life.
Campus Life is not just one thing. It is the combination of many of the organizations under one name. From the Association Student Activities Board (ASAB), Multicultural Affairs, and Safe Ride, these are the three main organizations under Campus Life.
Safe Ride is located by the main Campus Life offices. Safe Ride is a free program for all students here on campus to get students home safely from Thursday at 8 a.m. to Sunday at 11:59 p.m.
If you head downstairs, there will be many things for you to explore. As you head down the hallway, you will see the Student Government Association (SGA) chambers, where meetings are held. And if you continue, you will see the Greyhound Lounge, which is a place for students to come and hang out. There are pool tables, basketball, and a little arcade machine.
If you continue down, you will find the Multicultural Center, which is the place where all the offices of Multicultural Affairs are. They include Hispanic Affairs, Black Student Union, Veteran Affairs, Indigenous Affairs, and International Affairs.
The CUB is a place for everyone here on or off campus. It is a place where students can study or enjoy time with their friends. A place where fun events are held. But most of all, it is the heart of ENMU.
