The American Choral Directors Association at ENMU is dedicated to giving anyone who is interested in music a chance to explore the many opportunities of the amazing music world.
The ACDA has a variety of ways to help anyone learn what music is and what options a musician can have in the future. This is an organization where a music major is not needed. Anyone who is passionate about music is happily welcome to join.
ACDA President, Alyssa Carlock and Vice President, Zachary McAlister are passionate about giving each individual person a voice. Feedback from everyone about what is good and what needs to be worked on is of major importance to these leaders.
The organization strives to be universal and to give everyone a chance to express their opinions and suggestions about any topic. Their goals are to be advocates of music education for anyone who is interested in music and to help clarify the misconceptions and misinformation about music education.
“I like to have a smaller organization to get to learn from each other and get to have fun.” McAlister said.
They want members to learn about how leadership is created while also being maintained within this organization with constant communication.
Every member has a different reason for joining the ACDA
“I think just the concept of just learning something new is just so inspiring that I was like ‘I wanted to keep doing this. I wanted to keep learning’,” President Carlock said. “Growth mindset is so important, especially in the music world [and I thought] that maybe someday I could be in that leadership position, and I currently am, and it’s been amazing.”
Both ACDA leaders are dedicated to their organization and only wish to spread this dedication and fascination with learning about music with others that have a similar interest in expanding their knowledge about the opportunities available in music careers.
