In today’s society we live in a world where many people are constantly on the go. Often times it leaves us in a state of fatigue and in a feeling of being overwhelmed. There are several contributing factors throughout the day that can be improved to live a more balanced lifestyle.
Eating right
Eating right is one of the main tips to help feeling more positive. According to a study done by the Department of Psychology of the University of Konstanz suggests that “healthy” food choices such as eating fruits and vegetables have not only physical, but also mental health benefits and might be a long-term investment in future well-being.
Meditation
Meditation is a great tool for dealing with anxiety, depression, and Insomnia. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health shares a study they did where they state “54 adults with chronic insomnia learned mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), a form of MBSR specially adapted to deal with insomnia (mindfulness-based therapy for insomnia, or MBTI), or a self-monitoring program. Both meditation-based programs aided sleep, with MBTI providing a significantly greater reduction in insomnia severity compared with MBSR.”
Monitor Media
Monitoring the type of media, you receive can also affect your mood and health as well, especially when you first wake up. Many times, the first thing people do when they wake up is check their social media and their emails. It would be ideal to wake up and take some time for yourself, have some breakfast, read a book, listen to a podcast, and then sit down to look at your emails or social media.
Hobbies
Hobbies are a great way to do something for yourself. Even if your hobby is to go out and play with your dogs or take a bubble bath. This gives you the opportunity to do something for yourself that nourishes you. You can even read a book whether it be for self-development or fiction.
Exercise
Exercising at least an hour a day can be so beneficial to get your day going. According to Mayo Clinic “Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier, more relaxed and less anxious.” Exercise doesn’t even have to be heavy weightlifting. It can be going on a walk, jump roping, or a bicycle ride.
