Chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate! The Chocolate Sunday fundraiser on February 12 was a sweet success, ensuring a future for Eastern’s newest event.
Dr. Richard Schwartz, Chair of the Art Department, and Chef Lisa Campbell, from Culinary Arts, collaborated to create an event that would benefit them both. Voila, our first annual “Chocolate Sunday” was born. With all-you-can-eat chocolates, live jazz music, and a silent art auction, the event was a huge hit for both Eastern’s students and community members. Dr. David Steffens, Dean of Fine Arts, loved the event, saying, “We’d come if there was another one tomorrow!”
Although the total revenue for the event hasn’t been totaled up just yet, Dr. Schwartz estimates a total of $3,000 raised, which will benefit the students from both the Art and Culinary departments. In listening to the attendees’ feedback, Schwartz and Campbell hope for even more chocolate and other goodies for next year’s event.
