It’s that time of year- the ENMU Student Government Association is holding elections! Up for reelection is President Tamia Smith, and for Vice President, we have two candidates, Andres Chavez and Micaela Vigil.
Tamia is a senior Criminal Justice major. She loves her job as student body president “fighting and advocating for ENMU students”. In her next term, she hopes to get students more involved and have a better sense of unity throughout the campus. She is hoping her Vice President will be a great leader who will be able to handle the responsibility that comes with the title, on and off campus.
Andres Chavez is a junior studying Broadcast Journalism. Even with the competition as tough as it is, Andres had only good things to say about his opponent. “She would be a great fit for SGA Vice President. She brings a lot of great qualities to the table. That being said, I hope I get picked because it would be an honor to give back to the campus that has shaped me.” He hopes to be an advocate for bringing life back into campus. “We are finally getting numbers back up after the Covid pandemic, and I hope to help continue to grow them”.
Micaela Vigil is a senior theatre major with a minor in business. She wants to be a voice for those without one through her passion for acting. Micaela says, “I have a strong and loud voice, and I want to use it for good”. She also had only the best to say about her opponent. “I believe he would be great as SGA Vice President, and I know whoever wins will do their best for Eastern”.
A lot of love for each other from all our candidates- truly nice to see SGA in such caring hands. On April 17th, an email with the link to vote will be sent to everyone’s ENMU email addresses. Please help these candidates and get involved!
