The Mr Olympia contest is approaching, with only days away for the “superbowl” of bodybuilding to take place, every participant from around the world is getting their physique dialed in for the big day. While some of the big names of the industry are based in the United States and Canada, some others are based in Europe, and some are in the Middle East. With the conflict going on on the other side of the world, there have been problems for some contestants to get a green light by any border to be able to come and compete in this year’s Mr. Olympia.
Along with the conflict of getting top contenders for the event, there have been some rule changes for this year’s contest. One of the most noticeable rule changes was the automatic qualifying for the following year’s contest. The rule change came to get more diversity of contestants and to make the division more competitive. Keep in mind that if you win the contest in your division you are qualifying for life, however, for this year, only the top three will have an automatic qualifying spot for the following year instead of the top five that were allowed in previous years.
For this year’s event there are plenty of people to come for the title in the respective division. In the Men’s physique division Jeremy Buendia is coming back to win the title, from having taken off some years he is making a comeback to dethrone the current champion, and prove to those who have doubted he could make a comeback. For the Classic physique division, there is the champion Chris Bumstead who is looking to defend the title against Ramon “Dino” Queiroz who came in second at the 2022 Mr Olympia as well as Urs Kalecinski who came in third in last year’s Mr Olympia. The Mr Olympia contest will be taking place in Orlando, Florida November 2- 5. 2023, you can also watch the contest Live on Pay-Per-View at https://www.olympiaproductions.com.
