In the beginning of this year, I began to write about my brother who was just starting out in the livestock business. He carried the weight of helping out our grandpa and choosing to pursue a career in this. I truly think my brother has been a hard worker and definitely deserves some credit for the beginning of this year.
My brother has been a hard worker our whole lives. Many times we don’t have to stress about how our food will get on our plate. Just that we buy our food from the grocery store mostly. During this hot summer everyone worked basically every day. It didn’t matter how hot it was outside. Doctoring the animals or even just sorting them out. Sunday evenings if we had a cookout my brother usually left to go feed then came back to have dinner with us. We always got frustrated when he chose to leave when the food was almost done, but we understood there’s always a good and bad time to feed.
Recently I went over and was hanging out outside with him when he randomly brought out his “pet” goat. Turns out they’re friends. The problem with having cows or goats is that they can be friendly and then we become attached to them. When it comes down to selling them it can be difficult to do so. While we were sitting outside the goat was beside us eating the dirt or randomly hitting our legs. Making friends doesn’t seem so hard in this case does it? Feed him and give him water and he’s your best friend.
