The lineup of several planets is occurring in the night sky. This phenomenon, often called
the parade of planets, occurs when multiple planets align on the same side of the Sun,
appearing in a nearly straight line when viewed from Earth.
Throughout February, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Venus, Neptune, and Saturn—will be visible in
the evening sky. While Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn can be seen with the naked eye,
observing Mercury, Uranus, and Neptune will require a telescope. For the best viewing, find
a location with an unobstructed view of the horizon, away from city lights.
While the alignments of the planets may seem rare, it occurs almost every year in different
configurations. However, this particular alignment is special due to the number of planets
visible and the winter atmosphere making the sky clearer, which allows for better viewing.
This is a skywatching event you won’t want to miss.
