As a college student, life moves fast and rewards constant productivity. With constant

can be an impactful way to add joy to your day and protect your mental health.
Whether it’s lighting a candle while you study, listening to the birds sing on your walk to
class, or savoring your morning coffee, this mindset shift is all about being present. It’s a
reminder that life doesn’t have to be full of big milestones or constant excitement to be
fulfilling.
The American Psychological Association has found that mindfulness practices, like being
present, can reduce stress, improve emotional regulation, and increase overall well-being.
So, when we focus on simple pleasures, we are training our minds to see what’s good and
grounding, rather than the stressors.
Paying special attention to the little things doesn’t mean ignoring reality, rather it’s about
adding joy to it. In uncertain or stressful times, finding meaning in the ordinary is a powerful
form of self-care. It’s a way to reconnect with yourself, brighten your day, and build mental
resilience one moment at a time.
