When you think of the average Associate Student Activists Board (ASAB) event, you tend to think about events like Grocery Bingo or Casino Night. But the last event ASAB hosted was on a whole other level.
When I heard that Daniel Franzese was coming to campus, I was amazed to see that they were able to get someone of his status to come to our school. Franzese’s best-known role is Damian from the film “Mean Girls.” As well as playing Cousin Derek in the film “Bully.”
When I walked into the Campus Union Building (CUB) Ballroom, there were rows of seats from the front of the stage to the back. As I looked around, everyone was wearing pink. When I asked why, Ross Barbosa said, “On Wednesday we wear pink, even if it is a Monday.” As I took my seat, the only thing that was lit up was the stage.
Franzese was called up to the stage, and the crowd erupted with excitement. He walked on the stage with a cat tied in a purse like a sling. This allowed for the cat to pop in and out of the show .Franzese said, “Her name is Roswell.” The whole crowd at the same time said “aww.”
The Show was filled with lots of laughs, and I even cracked up a few times. By the end, the people were ready to get pictures and autographs. But Franzese had one more trick up his sleeve. He recorded a mock entrance and told the audience to go crazy. When he started recording, people were getting on top of each other, riding piggyback style. People did the worm on the floor, and even cartwheeled.
I really had an amazing time at this event, and getting to take pictures and get a mirror sign by Franzese was for sure a highlight. Thank you to ASAB for the amazing event, and I hope that we have more celebrities come to the school.
