It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s National Superhero Day! Prepare to celebrate your favorite superhero on April 28th as the holiday rolls around once again to give fans a chance to honor their favorite hero, real or fictional, for all that they do for the world.
Nothing may be as pervasive in popular culture as superheroes. Superheroes invade our homes and cities. They fill shows, movies, and literature with their incredible feats as they protect the innocent, punish the wrongdoers, and save the world.
It’s of little surprise then that Marvel, the home of one of the largest superhero universes, decided to create the national holiday in 1995 for fans to come together to celebrate the heroes who mean the most to them. That means heroes like the Hulk, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Captain America, and more have a day to be honored and celebrated for all that they mean to us.
Although the holiday was made by Marvel employees, all heroes can be celebrated on National Superhero Day—even DC heroes.
National Superhero Day isn’t just for fictional figures though. It’s the perfect chance to celebrate the real heroes in your life and show them how thankful you are for the things they do every day, big or small. Not all heroes wear capes or masks, and April 28th is the time to show them how important they are.
Who will you celebrate this year on National Superhero Day?
