September is the most exciting time of the year for Apple fans. The iPhone event is one of the most anticipated tech unveilings of the year. After months of rumors and speculation, Tim Cook will appear like an Apple clad Messiah to announce the next iteration of the iPhone to a yearning audience.
The 2023 version of the iPhone Pro is set to implement a string of improvements. The first and most exciting is a redesign. Titanium will be the new alloy of choice for the iPhone 15 Pro. Titanium remained dormant in Apple products after the discontinuation of the Titanium PowerBook back in 2003. The material made a comeback with the introduction of the Apple Watch Ultra.
The second is the A17 Chip. The A17 will be based on the 3nm process which in simple terms, compacts more transistors onto a chip which results in speed increased and radically improved power efficiency. There will also be yearly camera upgrades. The 15 Pro Max is rumored to get a periscope lens.
The last is the addition of USB C charging. Apple has been a stalwart with adding USB C to the iPhone, perhaps the European push for a universal charging port finally made Apple change their tune. Regardless of what the true reason was to make the switch, it’s a change that has been long overdue.
On the superficial side are new colors. A variety of pastel tones is rumored for the standard 15 models and a stunning new Gray and Blue for the Pro’s. The other products expected to be updated is iPad’s and AirPods with USB C Ports. It’s going to be an exciting event, although it will be difficult to top the Vision Pro VR Headset introduction at WWDC this past summer. Which rumors will be correct and which will be all fluff? All will be revealed on September 12th.
