As we get settled into the Spring 2024 semester, some students are finding that they are already needing a break after the chaos of the first weeks. With the weather warming up, there are opportunities across the state that give us the perfect excuse to take a day trip to experience one of these events. Whether you’re interested in the arts, history, shopping, or outdoors, there are options for anyone. Here are four enticing events to consider for a day trip or weekend getaway.
1. Through the Lens (Taos)
· A chance to look at the art made by middle school students who spent time learning creative skills and working with Taos Pueblos. Students use several subjects to capture their community, such as wildlife and landscape.
· This free event will be held from January 30th to March 30th on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 1:00-5:00 pm.

2. Black History Month Exhibit (Albuquerque)
· Join the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History as they celebrate African American’s contributions and achievements in STEM.
· This event will be held daily beginning February 1st to February 29th from 9:00 am-5:00 pm. Included with paid museum admission.
· Located and the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History. 601 Eubank Street SE Albuquerque, NM
3. Rail Yards Valentine’s Market (Albuquerque)
· What better excuse to shop than Valentine’s Day with your partner (or friends)? The market will include local flowers, chocolate, and many more.
· This two-day event will be held February 10th to February 11th from 10:00 am-2:00 pm.
· Located at 777 1st Street S.W Albuquerque, NM
4. Chocolate Sunday (All-You-Can-Eat Event)
· Want to stick closer to campus? ENMU is holding its Chocolate Sunday fundraising event. This includes chocolate, a community art auction, and live jazz. All proceeds go toward funding student’s opportunities.
· This event will be held February 11th from 2:00pm-4:00pm. Tickets in advance are $25. Tickets at the door are $30.
· Located on ENMU campus in the Campus Union Building (CUB) Ballroom on the 2nd floor.
