As of Jan. 23, 2025, Airmen at Cannon Air Force Base now have improved access to hearing care with the launch of tele-audiology services at the 27th Special Operations Medical Group.
Previously, Airmen experiencing major hearing decline had to travel to civilian providers, often in cities such as Lubbock, Texas, for further evaluation. To counter this, the medical group on base is offering a public health technician to conduct in-person hearing tests with a remote audiologist providing real-time virtual guidance thereafter.
By eliminating the need for frequent off-base travel, tele-audiology ensures Airmen can receive timely hearing care while remaining mission-ready. The new approach prioritizes convenience and accessibility for local Air Force members, reinforcing the military’s commitment to maintaining the health and effectiveness of its personnel.
