NCAA College softball is finally here! The Greyhounds just finished up the first week of
conference play and currently have an overall record of 10-4 and a conference record of
3-1. In less than a month of play, the ENMU softball team has batted in a whopping 116
runs and given up only 66 runs to opponents.
One factor in all these runs being scored by the Greyhounds is the home runs being hit
by the student-athletes. As a whole, the ENMU softball team has 20 home runs on the
season. To add onto this huge accomplishment for the team, ENMU is currently leading
Division II softball in the long ball. According to the softball statistics section on
NCAA.com, ENMU softball is ranked number one in the team home runs category (as of
February 18, 2025 8:08 am).
Three Greyhounds lead the team in this category, Aylene Lucero (Graduate Student),
Valeria Contreras (Fifth Year), and Alondra Vasquez (Fifth Year). Each has five home
runs on the season, putting them in the NCAA’s DII top 10 in home runs. This is a huge
accomplishment with only more to come from our Greyhounds.
