Last month, the head coaching job for Eastern’s women’s soccer team was given to coach
Nona Borden. Borden started at ENMU in August of 2024 as the women’s soccer
assistant coach; however, in October 2024 she took over as the interim head coach of the
team.
This will be the first head coach position for Borden. Prior to starting at ENMU Borden
was a graduate assistant for North Carolina Central University (NCCU). She earned her
Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in Exercise and
Sport Science; She earned a Master of Science in Kinesiology Recreational
Administration from NCCU.
Borden managed the Greyhounds through their last six matches of the 2024 season,
Earning a huge 2-0 win over UT Permian Basin which snapped a nine game losing streak
for the team. The team was visibly invigorated under Borden’s head coaching finding a
new spark that will lead them into the 2025 season. With 11 seniors graduating, she will
have a young group of female athletes in her first full season as a head coach.
