The Clovis Civic Center is giving you the chance to go abroad, all without leaving their ballroom.
Around the World is a culinary experience put on by the Clovis Civic Center. They serve a plated dinner featuring a foreign culture, along with fun facts and a brief background of the country.
This month’s destination was Canada, boasting music by Avril Lavigne and Carly Rae Jepsen. The dinner began with an appetizer of poutine, followed by a main course of roast beef on rye bread with pickles and salt-n-vinegar chips, and finished with a Canadian butter and maple tart. The food was superb throughout the night, and the patrons had a fun time learning trivia. The dessert was especially sublime!
Sarah Stevens, the general manager at the Civic Center, was the MC for the night. When asked what the program was about, Stevens stated she wanted to bring awareness to what activities the Civic Center offers. She said that it’s “Just a fun thing for people to do.” This is the second year of the Around the World program, and next month they will feature a Sweden experience.
Tickets are $35 per person or $65 per couple.
