The Oklahoma City Thunder have yet again started off the season as one of the top NBA teams to watch in the 2025-26 season. Their record-breaking start of 24-1 as of early December has proven that the champs haven’t lost a step since winning the 2025 NBA finals.
Oklahoma City’s offense has been extremely efficient, regularly posting some of the highest point totals and beating opponents by double-digit deficits. Their defense has also proven to be one of the best in the league by limiting their opponents’ scoring opportunities and often turning defensive stops into fast break opportunities on offense. This combination of fast-paced offense with strong and reliable defense has allowed the Thunder to seemingly take control of games from start to finish.
Like any great team, the Thunder’s core players are the primary fuel to their success. 2025 NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, All-Star Jalen Williams, and 2022 second overall pick Chet Holmgren have delivered big performances game after game, which has not only been a massive contribution to their success but also led to the elevation of their surrounding cast. With so many players contributing at such a high level, it has allowed for the Thunder coaching staff to seamlessly make changes without any dropoff in team performance.
Fans throughout social media have grown to have a love- hate relationship with the organization due to their constant success in such a competitive Western Conference. The Thunder look poised to not only maintain its hot start but also make a deep push towards winning back-to-back NBA Finals.
