Looking for a new database and new source specifically for college students? Well look no further The Chronicle of Higher Education is just the place for you!
The Chronicle of Higher Education is an independent and privately-owned news organization. They call themselves the “unrivaled leader in high education journalism.” Dedicated to covering colleges/universities and providing them with real-time news and knowledge to succeed in today’s ever-changing world.
The Chronicle was started in 1966 in Washington, D.C. The newspaper was founded by a nonprofit organization called Editorial Projects in Education (EPE). In 1978 EPE decided to sell The Chronicle to Jack Crowl and Corbin Gwaltney who started The Chronicles of Higher Education Inc. In 1990, Gwaltney purchased the entire company and became the co-chair of the board of directors until he passed away in 2019.
The Chronicle has everything from news, to an advice column. They cover data, current issues, and even virtual events. The website’s classifieds section has vastly grown and is now a wonderful tool for those searching for jobs in higher education. However, one thing The Chronicle does not contain is featured editorials. Gwaltney wanted to maintain a trustworthy and impartial news source, that would appeal to everybody.
With top writers and experts in higher education, The Chronicle brings in over 2 million readers to their website each month. In addition, over 1,560 different organizations are subscribed to give access to their faculty and students.
