The summer is here and besides a weather change with more sunlight, it can be an opportunity to begin a healthy routine.
The word “summer” typically becomes associated with partying, drinking, lots of food, just an overall “good time”- at least for college students. It is a two month period to fully release the stress and welcome relaxation.
Most of us were raised to view the summer as a place to enjoy all the hard work put into the first half of the year, which is true. All the hard work does not go unnoticed, it becomes a period to treat yourself to things you were prevented from in the year.
The social pressure of letting go and trying your best to avoid all responsibility has an effect on our health.
Social media has enforced the way summer lives should be lived. Visit TikTok, for example, you will not find a video of a summer recap filled with work and stress. They show you what they want you to see. The “fun” side of it.
There is like an unspoken rule that by the summertime you have to be in a certain place in your life. Whether it be physically or mentally. The expression “hot girl summer” has become the new trend pressuring the times in which it is acceptable to not have made a change.
The beginning of the year is known for new years’ resolutions. The perfect time to make changes to your life, set goals and start fresh.
Do not feel discouraged if your new year’s resolutions never flourished, there is still time!
Do not let this summer go by without believing there can be change done in this time period as well.
There are many benefits with a healthier lifestyle. It all begins with changing habits. Living longer, feeling more energized, gaining strength, can be beneficial goals. The sky’s the limit.
Do not let other’s progress disencourage or put a stop to your path. Everyone has a different journey. It can be time to begin yours.
We all wish to live and be our best selves. The summertime can be the best time to begin a change. The seeds you plant will be shown in the fruit you reap.
After the process of making healthier routine choices such as waking up early, journaling, exercising, going on walks, eating healthier little by little, they will become your daily habits.
The time is now, let the summer be the season of change.
