Today, it has become much too easy to scroll the hours away on social media and watch mindless content on TV. After a day of work or a lecture, you might be endlessly doom scrolling on your social media platform. Instead of wasting your time and draining your creativity, you can learn a new skill and feel fulfilled instead of staying up until 3:00 am watching cat videos.
The first step to finding a hobby you want to learn is to think about what you already know and are interested in. Suppose you enjoy playing video games or watching other people play video games. In that case, you can start creating video games yourself. Many beginner coding options are available, such as the software development app Scratch. Teachers mainly use this app to teach kids the first steps of coding but don’t let that deter you from learning from it. It is a significant first step to learning how to create your games.
Secondly, spend any free time dedicating yourself to learning your hobby. Avoid your phone like the plague, and instead, check out your local library for books or use your laptop or campus computer for internet tutorials to research more about your hobby. If it is a more physical hobby like sports, you can join a club or try out for your college’s sports team. The best hobbies are those you can share and join in with others.
It is important to have hobbies that you can have for fun. You can have many hobbies, but have one that is just for yourself, whether for relaxation or something else to keep your mind occupied. Having a personal hobby is crucial to mental health. You can be an artist and sell your art online, a mobile game developer for some extra cash, and be a guitarist to play guitar with your friends and try and learn your favorite songs.
