This week was an interesting week for me. I was able to get my hands a little more dirty than usual with my family’s business. On Thursday I was able to join my mom with a full day of hauling.

We left home at eight in the morning and headed out to get the pickup and trailer. But first, coffee! We stopped at stripes and got some coffee then went back to fill up with diesel. After that we headed out towards Idalou, Texas to pick up some dairy cattle. My mom had three loads to take from a dairy in Idalou to another one in Plainview. These loads take a while since it is a drive to get back and forth.

We arrived at Idalou around 10:30 A.M and got back for the second load close to 1 P.M. we knew we were probably going to finish a bit later. I didn’t realize how long it actually took since it had been so long since I went with anyone to do loads. Finally, we finished at 3 and we stopped in Plainview to grab a bite since we hadn’t ate at all that day. In the middle of eating my uncle called my mom to let her know there was a load from the auction in Clovis back to the farm. From Plainview we headed out to Clovis and picked and loaded up the cows.

Finally around 6 we got to the farm and unloaded. We had some trouble unloading one cow but got it done. Afterwards we stayed at the farm and talked with my uncle for a bit and headed back home. We finally got home after 7:30. When I went inside I was told I smelled and needed to shower. I was shocked that I was told that but I went ahead and showered then had a small dinner. I was exhausted one day and forgot how tiring this can get.
