With temperatures dropping, it can be difficult to know what you can do to stay warm! Besides wearing big “puffy” jackets, there are other ways to make sure you don’t get too cold this winter. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “ Cold- related deaths and illness are preventable, yet more than 700 people die from extreme weather every year in the United States.” Although, don’t let this number alarm you, try taking action to keep warm this winter by either staying in heated areas, drinking warm beverages, or even closing curtains. Even though these are just some factors of staying warm in the winter, another important aspect to remember is to wear heavy-weighted, comfortable, and dark-colored clothes. Mostly because it can get so cold outside, that if you’re wearing light and cool colored clothing, you could suffer from a cold. Some other helpful tips to stay warm this winter is to wear thick clothes and beanies! If you’re like me, and don’t like wearing thick clothing or beanies, put it on anyway! The risks of not keeping warm outweigh the discomfort of wearing it. Now that you know a little more about how to keep yourself warm during the winter, enjoy the cool weather and a break from school!
