The week of thanksgiving tends to be a hassle. Last minute gathering of food and having to remember what we may be missing. But work also never ends.
Last week my mom and I decided to host thanksgiving and make almost all of the food. We realized we didn’t have much time to get everything we needed because we still had to work and I also had some school work to get done. Sunday we headed to Clovis and bought all the easy things that went in the freezer or stayed in the pantry. Monday night I went to get the biscuits and the pie crusts. Tuesday we got everything else. Luckily, we have a deep freezer so we were able to buy the ham and turkey in advance and keep it there.
Wednesday night I got home from work and decided to make the pies so I wouldn’t have to worry about them since they take longer to bake. I made millionaire, pumpkin, and apple pies. Thursday morning came and went smoothly. We seasoned the turkey and let it dry long enough before we fried and set the ham out to marinate. We decided to set up the tables before cooking because we always end up finishing late and in a hurry. Around 11 we started making the food. This ranged from Mac n cheese, pasta salad, mashed potatoes, corn, and biscuits. By 3 all the food was done and people started to show up. Everyone brought a few things, banana bread, brownies, and fruit salad.
